In the VSA history book at Wichita State University (WSU), 1995-96 will always be remembered as the "years of the females." How's that, you asked. Well, this was the year that our VSA organization had a first female president, Thảo (Karen) Võ. April 1995, a general election was held, and Thảo was elected into office by the student majority. Supported by a strong cabinet, along with students and a united community, President Thảo took the entire organization to a new level of success during her 1995-96 academic term.

That year, the cabinet positions were held mostly by female students. However, everyone noticed this "predominantly female" organization had performed extremely well throughout their term. Led by President Thảo, the VSA made progresses on all fronts. Some major accomplishments included hosting sports tournament, participating in the annual October Asian Festival, organizing the Tết celebration, publishing the New Year magazine, and working closely with the local Vietnamese community to help coordinate the traditional Hùng Vương Commemorative in April (1996).

Nineteen Ninety Five (1995) also marked a significant turning point in the history of the VSA at Wichita State University. Through the help of Chris (Phương) Dương, a graduated student and long-time VSA volunteer, the VSA launched its very-first home page on the Internet. The home page was used as an online archive for activity pictures, a communication medium where students' images and activities were being beamed to millions of netters around the world.

Nineteen Ninety Five (1995) was a very special year. And to this day, it is considered as one of the most prominent years in the history of VSA at Wichita State.
