On Tuesday, 31 August 2004, the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) held its general assembly in the Fall semester. President Chris (Nhựt) Nguyễn and his cabinet have been busy preparing for this event. Everything from time, location, fliers, refreshment items to communicational speeches have been thoroughly planned. But everyone was also careful not to overlook the most important issue, i.e., the presenting of this year's agenda and a general outline of how the VSA's goals were to be accomplished.

Due to some unexpected traffic delays, the meeting was briefly setback for 20 minutes. At 12:20pm, the president and his staff arrived. Refreshment items --pizzas, KFC's, and soft drinks-- were provided to accomodate those rushing from their classes who hadn't had time grab a quick lunch. As the students gathered and helped themselves around the refreshment table, President Nhựt began to speak.

First off, Nhựt introduced himself as President of the VSA for the school year of 2004-05. He then turned to his cabinet and asked each member to introduced him/herself. After an initial round of introduction, Nhựt spoke directly to the student body. He gave them a general outline of this year's agenda. "We will continue to carry on with this wonderful VSA traditions," swriterid the VSA president as he was referring to the activities that strongly bond the students together, as well as other functional processes that defined a foundation that closely linked the VSA to the Vietnamese community in Wichita, Kansas. Nhựt also asked for the students' help. "Without your support and participation," swriterid the president, "it would be difficult, if not impossible, for our VSA organization to succeed in any ways."

The general assembly was called to facilitate a communication line between the VSA cabinet and the student body. The information was well conveyed in both directions. Everyone was excited and looked torward a successful school year.
